Nice draggable/sortable fix for IE

Reported by Laurent Fortin | September 8th, 2008 @ 08:59 PM | in 1.8.3 bugfix release

Recently, I had an issue with some sortable UL lists in IE6.

Then, I found this fix:

http://www.garyharan.com/index.p...

So far it seems to have corrected the problem.

The problem of the sortable UL list was that it seemed to trigger multiple event handlers at the same time, causing some weird behavior.

On the Google group "Prototype & script.aculo.us", I have suggested to include this patch in a further release of Script.aculo.us. Following John-David Dalton's suggestion to submit this patch, I open this new ticket!

    Hi,

    I've experienced this issue (and found the same fix on teh intertubes). I rolled the fix into the dragdrop.js for simplicity by modifying the options_for_draggable, adding:

    onStart: function() { if (document.all) {

    Event.observe(document.body, "drag", function() { Event.stop(event); return false; } );
    Event.observe(document.body, "selectstart", function() { Event.stop(event); return false; } );

    } }, revert: function() { if (document.all) {

    Event.stopObserving(document.body, "drag", function() { Event.stop(event); return false; } );
    Event.stopObserving(document.body, "selectstart", function() { Event.stop(event); return false; } );

    } return true; }

    Note the added return true as we've replaced the default revert option. I've attached my modified js file for your viewing pleasure.
