Drag drop fix for ie6

Reported by Arjan | July 8th, 2008 @ 04:59 PM

In Ie6, when using sortable.create the elements become invisible. I fixed this by adding the following line:

new Effect.Opacity(element, {duration:0.2, from:element._opacity, to:0.7});

To to bottom of the function:

Draggable.prototype = {

initialize: function(element) {

This trigger IE 6 to show the elements just like firefox allready does. The change doesnt seem to affect the behavior in Firefox :)

I hope this helps someone facing the same trouble I was.

    • Tag set to draggable, ie, scriptaculous, sortable.create, sortables

    I can confirm this problem with Rails 2.1.0 and 2.1.2. In each case I updated to the latest prototype/script.aculo.us versions by running "rake rails:update:javascripts".

    Rails 2.1.0 was using Prototype I don't know which script.aculo.us version is used.

    The fix you mention does work, but I assume this should be fixed in script.aculo.us itself.

    • State changed from “new” to “hold”

    Can you guys add a failing functional test for this? The functional sortable tests work fine for me on IE6, no invisibility for me.

    Sortable works fine in IE7 - except from sortable TRs, they become invisible when they are dragged. After disabling the opacity-effect in line 259 of dragdrop.js:

    new Effect.Opacity(element, {duration:0.2, from:element._opacity, to:0.7});

    the table row remains visible while being dragged.

    That seems to be exactly the line Arjan mentioned above, but I did not see any negative effect in IE6 or IE7 after inserting

    if(!(element.tagName == 'TR' && Prototype.Browser.IE))

    before that line.

    however, dragging TRs does not work at all in IE6 (but IE8 is coming these days ;-))
