.down/.select failing in IE8 [please close]

Reported by Luis Gómez | June 6th, 2009 @ 01:49 AM | in 1.6.1

Hi all,

I've been testing this manually trying to figure out the problem but so far have not been able to figure out much. Here's the summary:

  1. It only shows up in IE8.
  2. I can confirm it does not happen in Win IE6, Win IE7, Win/OSX FF3, Win/OSX Safari 4.
  3. Using prototype-1.6.1_rc2
  4. The reported error is:

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Timestamp: Fri, 5 Jun 2009 23:21:10 UTC

Message: Invalid argument. Line: 3339 Char: 9 Code: 0 URI: http://localhost/javascripts/prototype-1.6.1_rc2.js?v=20090513102400

These are the two snippets of code I extracted from the actual application showing the error: http://gist.github.com/124565 (you won't be able to run that b/c of missing dependencies)

Attached is a file which you can download and open in IE8 to see the error. It includes a link to prototype-1.6.1_rc2 and Firebug Lite for your convenience.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Luis
