.getValue returns wrong value in Safari

Reported by Jan Pietrzyk | May 2nd, 2009 @ 10:31 AM

When using the prototype Form.Element Method getValue() in Sfari on a simple text input it returns instead of the dynamic the default Value. It there is a DOM property .value that holds the correct value. But Prototype insistes on returning the preset one from Object Creation.

{
...
var input = $("myInput");
alert(input.getValue); //returns HelloWorld
...
}
//some user input on input
{
...
var input = $("myInput");
alert(input.getValue); //then allways returns HalloWorld!
...
}

    This doesn't sound right. We have unit tests for this sort of thing.

    Can you put together a test case?
