Use of Native XMLHttpRequest Object For IE7

Reported by Bryan K | January 5th, 2009 @ 08:50 PM

When Prototype is used with SOAP AM in IE7, an access denied exception is displayed unless the following changes are made within the getTransport function - please refer to the attachment. These changes were mentioned in the MSDN blog. http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive...

The original code in the sample file has been commented out and my changes are below.

    • State changed from “new” to “invalid”

Native XMLHttpRequest is currently always used if it's present. I don't understand what your issue is. Please advise.

In IE7, when we attempted to send a SOAP requests using Prototype, as it is, we received an access denied error and the soap request was not successfully sent. After making the changes that are indicated in file that I attached, ProtoGetTransport.js, we were able to successfully send SOAP requests in IE7 with the prototype library. The link to the MSDN blog that I included in my opening statement also suggests the modifications that I have made.
