proxy hostile

Using Prototype JavaScript framework, version 1.5.1 directly with a web application seems to tolerate unexpected closure of request sockets. However, when the same situation is encountered with a proxy server in the middle, the resulting 502 (bad gateway) causes an out of sync with server error.
Will attempt to create a minimal repeatable test case to exhibit behavior outside current application context.

Be sure to try with the latest version of Prototype (and the current version on Github). Version 1.5.1 is ancient.
